Breaking! Github bans access from Chinese IPs

Today, a large number of Chinese developers reported being unable to access GitHub. Upon verification on the same day, it appears that GitHub has seemingly banned access from Chinese IPs entirely, causing a strong shock within the tech community.
GitHub has long promoted the spirit of open source, claiming to be committed to building a globally open code collaboration platform. However, this unjustified ban on Chinese IPs excludes the Chinese developer community, cutting off their access to resources and avenues for sharing achievements, which seriously violates the core principles of openness and sharing upheld by open source, greatly undermining the fairness and integrity of the open source ecosystem. This is a blatant harm to the global open source cause.
Previously, while Chinese users often faced network issues when accessing GitHub, such a comprehensive ban is unprecedented. GitHub hosts a vast amount of code resources and is widely used among Chinese developers, with many projects relying on it for advancement. This ban has directly led to countless development projects being stalled and team collaborations being interrupted. Especially for startups and small tech teams, this has dealt a heavy blow, severely hindering project progress, significantly increasing costs, and adversely affecting technological innovation and industrial development in China.
As of April 13, 2025, at 17:30, GitHub has not made any official response, and the reason for the ban remains unclear, possibly related to geopolitical, cybersecurity, and other unfounded factors. GitHub's actions seriously harm the rights and interests of Chinese developers and deviate from the open principles it claims to uphold. We strongly condemn GitHub for this irresponsible behavior that undermines global open source collaboration.
